RUDN Chemists Developed Eco-Friendly Nanocomposites from Fruit and Berry Peel for Water Purification, Qualitative Analysis, and Catalysis of Organic Reactions

A RUDN chemist synthesized nanomaterials for water purification, catalysis of organic reactions and sensors. The substances were developed on the basis of porous carbon with iron oxide and nitrogen particles. The article was published in Applied Surface Science.
 
Multidisciplinary terminological system: from word to discourse

Natalia Zhabo, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages at RUDN Agrarian and Technological Institute, presented the author's theoretical and applied concept of multidisciplinary term systems to the linguistic community of the RUDN University.
 
RUDN Medics Identified an Error in the Therapy of Ischemic Stroke After-Effects

If a patient is treated from ischemic stroke after-effects using the cerebral hypothermia method, their diet is adjusted, and they are expected to consume 20-25 Kcal per 1 kilogram of body weight. RUDN medics demonstrated that this value should be reduced by 15-20% to decrease the mortality and disablement rate among such patients by 2 times. The article was published in the Clinical Nutrition journal.
 
RUDN Biochemists Discovered an Enzyme to Stop Cell Death

RUDN biochemists found out that apoptosis (programmed cell death) can be regulated using the EndoG enzyme. The discovery will lead to better understanding of cell and tissue protection mechanisms. The results of the study were published in the Biochimie journal.

April 19-20, the Philological faculty Department of Russian Language and Methodology of Teaching hosted the second final round of the University Student Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language “Russia: Traditions and Modernity”. The winners will represent RUDN at the All-Russian Russian Language Olympiad among foreign students in the autumn of 2019.

RUDN teams in swimming, volleyball, tennis and beach volleyball got to the sports pedestal of the 39th International University Sport Festival Euro-Istanbul 2019, held on May 8-13, at the Bogazichi University (Turkey). Swimmer Maxim Chumachenko is recognized as the best athlete of the tournament.

April 25, the Faculty of Philology hosted the 22nd festival of student films "MEFI". The theme of the festival was social and moral issues.

Students of RUDN Law Institute prepared more than 40 posters for May 9, in 8 foreign languages . Posters in English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, German, French and Japanese, dedicated to the Victory over fascism, were placed on the walls of the Institute's corridors in the main building of RUDN.
 
Green forest - green planet: students of RUDN at the volunteer spring week clean-up

April 27, 48 volunteers from 20 countries did the cleaning on the territory of the Troparevsky forest park zone adjacent to the campus of the university. Ecological action has become part of the city project "Spring Week of Good."
